Sorrel graduated in 1994 from University of Ulster with a BA(hons) in Fine Craft Design.
She is a Past President (2018 - 2020) of the Ulster Society of Women Artists. She has won 3 awards for her work, has had regular solo exhibitions, sells her art on her website and in local galleries, fulfills commissions and teaches drawing and painting skills to adults through art groups, plein-air classes, and short courses.
She was thrilled to paint a commission last year which was gifted to the King and Queen, celebrating the opening of the new Coronation Garden in Newtownabbey.
Sorrel’s passion in painting is to capture the effects of light and shadows in compositions which inspire her. She works mainly in oils or pastels
She loves to experiment with mark-making in pastels - the saturation of colours is a joy that never gets old for her. Sorrel explores effects of colour relationships to convey emotion and atmosphere, underpinning the whole with a deep appreciation for observational drawing.
